Alpine Loop

This is our most popular weekend trip (Fri-Sun). It is a quick 1-hour ride from Pagosa, West on highway 160. We turn onto Hwy 550 and climb the iconic million-dollar highway. 45 minutes later, we roll into Silverton, Colorado, deep in the heart of the San Juan mountains, and one of many launching points for the famed "Alpine Loop".  The Loop covers 5 little mountain towns with endless backroads connecting them over world-class mountain scenery and high mountain passes. Each town offers wonderful and unique options for dining and lodging. There are countless magical camping spots along these passes and on the outskirts of the towns.
